Statement from U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers on the Patriot Coal Bankruptcy Decision

Statement from U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers on the Patriot Coal Bankruptcy Decision

Statement from U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers on the Patriot Coal bankruptcy decision:

“Declining mine wages and lost retiree health benefits are at least, in part, a result of the Obama Administration’s costly war on coal.  These benefits heavily rely on a strong and vibrant coal industry and now we’re seeing the results of President Obama’s anti-coal agenda on our people.  I want mining families to know that my colleagues and I are turning over every stone to hopefully find a legislative solution that would both restore health care coverage for the hard-working retirees disrupted by the bankruptcy and also end the illegal mining permit moratorium that’s killing coal jobs.  This is a complicated set of issues, but my heart goes out to families throughout our region facing this uncertainty.”
