Thursday, Oct. 25 ● 8 p.m. ● $10 cover
The Appalshop Theater, 91 Madison Ave., Whitesburg, Ky.
Join us this upcoming Thursday, October 25, at 8 p.m., as Van Lear Black takes the Appalshop stage for the second installment in our brand-new concert series, WMMT Rocks! Live. Especially in the midst of so many local talent competitions where the ultimate goal for everyone involved seems to be Getting Out of the Mountains As Soon As Possible, the idea behind WMMT Rocks! Live (stream previous episodes here) is to showcase some of the immense talent we have right here in the region. We want to give bands a place to perform here at home, in hopes of helping to nurture and promote the local scene and helping local bands get the recognition they deserve.
We’re excited, then, to welcome Van Lear Black as our second guests in the series! Formed in Johnson County, Ky., Van Lear Black brings rock-and-roll with a southern edge, a soulful, bluesy vibe, and a hard rock drive. Having just recently formed in the late summer of 2011, Van Lear Black has already had the opportunity to share the stage with the up-and-coming Nashville rock act The Jompson Brothers as well as Chicago rockers The Steepwater Band. Their debut album was released in June 2012, and you can stream their music yourself right here.
In addition to the live concert, WMMT Rocks! Live is recorded and will air on the following Sunday (Oct. 28) at 7 PM during The Rock Show with Greg on WMMT. So come on out and see a great local band right here at home! Get in touch with us at WMMT at (606) 633-0108 or at [email protected] with any questions. We’ll see you Thursday at 8!
