WMMT is delighted to share the news that Seedtime on the Cumberland is THIS WEEKEND!
From June 7-9, we will once again welcome musicians, crafters, demonstrators, and vendors from all walks of mountain life to the Appalshop grounds for the 27th annual Seedtime on the Cumberland festival of mountain people, arts, and culture. Musical acts over the weekend will include Sparky & Rhonda Rucker, Lee Sexton, Woody Pines, the Clack Mountain String Band, the Tommy Webb Band, Heather Berry & Tony Mabe, Jimmy & Ada McCown, Rich & the Po’ Folk, and many, many more!
Other special Seedtime events include:
Lined-out, Old Regular Baptist Hymnsinging with National Heritage Fellowship recipient Elder Frank Newsome as well as Elder James Caudill
Cowan Women Will Tell You Stories, a play by Angie DeBord, performed in the Appalshop Theatre on Friday night and followed by a concert from Sparky & Rhonda Rucker
A presentation and signing of the brand new book Helen Matthews Lewis: Living Social Justice in Appalachia, a collection of Lewis’s writings and memories that document her life and work
Readings from the Southern Appalachian Writers’ Cooperative, including Gurney Norman, Richard Hague, Pauletta Hansel, Scott Goebel, Misty Skaggs, Frankie Finley, Dana Wildsmith, emcee Jim Webb, and Minnie More
A screening of the brand-new Appalshop film Anne Braden: Southern Patriot

Screenings of preserved films from the vast Appalshop Archives, including a preserved copy of In The Good Old Fashioned Way (1973, color, 29 min), a film about the Old Regular Baptist Church
A free, guided hike to Bad Branch Falls
A Shape-note singing workshop with Dr. Ron Pen
The annual Youth Bored Punk Showcase
The Carcassonne Square Dance, the longest continuously running square dance in Kentucky, if not the world, at Seedtime on Saturday Night!
A special Seedtime edition of BGX Live! on the night of Thursday, June 7, featuring the aforementioned Tommy Webb Band as well as Heather Berry & Tony Mabe.
